A: It is better to use 5mm double glass because
a sliding door with single glass looks unattractive. If you use single glass, a wide space would be filled with excessive silicon.

Q5: Can you use rubber instead of glass silicon?
A: Yes, but only on one side. The other side must be glass silicon, as double rubber isn't strong enough and is more prone to falling off compared to glass silicon.
